More Twin Peaks to Negotiate?
When ‘Twin Peaks’ was first aired on television, it was a very exciting time indeed. There weren’t exactly a lot of great programmes to choose from back then, so this show really was a sight for sore eyes. It was fresh, cool and very, very strange. Everyone I knew would tune-in to watch it each week and it was constantly discussed between episodes. ‘Who killed Laura Palmer?’, ‘What made Leland’s hair turn white overnight?’ and ‘What does the Log Lady have to do with it all???’ These were the sort of questions you were likely to hear in any pub or café back in 1990.

And because so many of these things were never properly answered at all, ‘Twin Peaks'has retained every bit of its magical appeal. That is why this show is now one of the daddies of cult TV. ‘Twin Peaks'has never left the minds of those who watched it the first time round and many people still have regular nightmares about the super-scary Killer Bob!
It’s just a shame that this landmark series could not have gone on a little longer. Sure, there may be thirty superb episodes to re-watch (along with the hugely underrated, ‘Fire Walk With Me’), but did it really have to end so soon? There were so many more tantalising things to explore – the ‘Let’s Rock'in large format print on the windscreen, the blue rose and that mysterious tall guy…
Maybe one day David Lynch will decide to take a trip back to the town of Twin Peaks. Mark Frost has hinted a few times that he and Lynch have some ideas for a tie-in project… but there is still nothing definite at the time of writing. One thing is for sure though; if there are to be any new additions to the ‘Twin Peaks'franchise, then they will be very warmly welcomed by its legion of fans!
